Two weeks left to apply for the Yefe Nof + 1888 Center California Writing Residency
Unknown authors take to the mountains outside of Los Angeles in April-May 2018.

California: The deadline approaches for three authors – fiction and non-fiction writers, composers, playwrights, poets, video and filmmakers, visual artists – who will get two weeks apiece to finish their work in solitude and a publishing opportunity in 1888 Center’s annual Cost of Paper anthology.. A basic application and a California address is all that is required.
Yefe Nof and 1888 Center are cultivating new California voices. Residents spend their time finishing their work between the mountain towns of Blue Jay and Lake Arrowhead in a beautiful home where previous writers, researchers, and designers have communicated with and influenced each others’ ideas. All work completed at Yefe Nof becomes part of a multidisciplinary dialogue which seeks solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems.
2017 recipients included Director of the Huntington-USC Institute of California and the West, Poet Laureate of Altadena, and a former wildlife firefighter. They had time to finish stories, assemble the architecture of their collections, and finalize their drafts.
About Yefe Nof + 1888 Center: Yefe Nof’s mission is to cultivate a society where profit and purpose equally drive ambition by helping transform the innovative ideas of working creative individuals. 1888 serves as a regional catalyst for the preservation, presentation, and promotion of cultural heritage and literary arts.
