About: William Deverell has been Professor of History at the University of Southern California since 2004. He founded and directs the Huntington-USC Institute on California and the West.
As a California Writing Resident, Bill will finish two short stories that are part of a larger collection-in-progress.
Project Title: “Arraigned” and “Driftwood” diverge from his specialization in the history of the American West by taking their inspiration from a desire to explore questions of meaning and belonging rather than historical problems and mysteries.
